The role of obesity in patients with sarcoidosis

Introduction: Fat tissue produced inflammatory cytokines which have an impact on systemic diseases such as sarcoidosis(S). Treatment with corticosteroids(CS) can worsen metabolic disoders and patients’ life quality Aim: to assess the role of obesity in clinical aspect of S Methods: 142 patients with S were observed at pulmonology depratment Tareev Clinic. BMI was calculated before treatment was start. Patients were divided into 2groups:gr.1-with obesity(BMI≥30kg/m2)(n=84),gr.2-without obesity(n=58). Control group consisted of 35 patients with chonic bronchitis and obesity Results: There was prevelance of middle aged women with obesity among patients with S. Male patients were charecterised by younger age and lower BMI. It is important to consider MD, C before CS-tretment will start, to save life quality
