Employee engagement and turnover intention: An empirical investigation in the plantation industry

2017
The purpose of this research is to examine the factors that affect employee engagement and turnover intention among employees in the plantation industry. For this purpose, a conceptual framework was proposed and empirically tested. A total of 275 questionnaires were collected using convenience sampling and analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings revealed that six hypotheses are supported. Surprisingly, one hypothesis was rejected: rewards and recognition have a positive and significant relationship with turnover intention. The findings of this research contribute valuable new knowledge that could be applied in predicting staff retention in the plantation industry. Academic and practical implications were discussed.
