Coaching many : Team and group coaching
2019
This chapter explores the “related siblings” of group and team coaching, their differences and similarities. It provides a high-level overview of the related and distinct sub-disciplines of team and group coaching. The chapter examines some of the subtle, but important, nuances between group and team coaching, with a specific focus on group coaching. Group and team coaching leverage additional competencies for masterful work. The coaching agreement frames what the coaching will be about, the role of the coach, and the role of those being coached. Building trust and rapport in group coaching usually takes place at two levels: with each other as peers, and with the coach. Creating awareness in the group coaching context usually takes place along the lines of the individual self. Group coaching is often appreciated for its “width and breadth,” the ability of group members to learn from their peers which can provide a widening around the topics they are working on.
