Synthesis of metal nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution is a laborious process, requiring conditions control so its commercial application is limited. The use of a simple one-step synthesis with subsequent modification of nanoparticles is a promising approach. In this paper a method for changing the mean diameter of gold nanoparticles synthesized using gum arabic as stabilizing agent was described. The average diameter of gold nanoparticles may be increased by a shell of silver on the surface, whereas the diameter decrease is provided by boiling the solution after nanoparticles synthesis. Presented approach eliminates the low accuracy of the gold nanoparticles synthesis method by using gum arabic as a stabilizing agent.
