Abundance and isolation of nitrogen-fixing bacteria from the major rice soils of Bangladesh

Most published work on the effect of plant inoculation with nitrogen-fixing bacteria show inconsistent results, supposedly due to the use of bacteria unadapted to the particular plant or soil. For that reason, the Laboratory of Ecological Microbiology in the Rhizosphere (LEMIR) has designed a protocol for in vitro selection of plant—bacterium combinations for use in field inoculation trials.
