Дискуссия о целях и сущности шос: по материалам отечественных и зарубежных источников
2007
Central Asia is developing into a pivotal area of international security. The creation of the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) by the initiative of the two great powers (Russia, China) is a tentative to consolidate strategically important region, and to surpass American influence. Despite its graduation to a fully institutionalized organization, the SCO remains restraint by the dominance of national interests over any sense of multilateral cooperation. But from the general point of view, Chinese and Russian goals in Central Asia remain fundamentally complementary, so SCO is seen to be an effective instrument to coordinate their policies and minimize security risks.
