Sharing Electricity in Brazil: a crypto-currency for micro/mini-grid transactive energy

The growing presence of Distributed Generation has kept alive the discussions for the active integration of medium/low-voltage power consumers into the energy market. Besides technical and economic difficulties faced so far, another point of view emerges from the use of blockchain technologies to make the Transactive Energy approach a reality. The current article presents a distributed application model for energy management and trade between members of a shareable consumption group, a kind of Distributed Generation regulated by the Brazilian Government. It also showcases the methodology of the crypto-currency Sharing Electricity in Brazil that can be used to allow power exchange operations at the scope of micro/mini-grids.
