espanolEl espacio social como resultado del proceso historico de las sociedades –incluida la colombiana– es un campo permanente de oposiciones, con autonomia, lenguaje, capitales y agentes propios; el articulo desarrolla en ese contexto, un analisis de conceptos bourdianos en el ambito de la educacion nacional, en un recorrido historico del proceso de cambio en el entorno de la educacion superior: de las elites a la democratizacion, de la educacion publica a la privada, del analfabetismo generalizado a indices aun preocupantes, entre otras reflexiones de vital importancia. Para determinar con precision los avances reales en la calidad y la democratizacion, es indispensable formular indicadores mensurables para cobertura, calidad, acceso, equidad y competitividad comparada. EnglishThe social space as a result of the historical process of societies -including the Colombian-, is a permanent field of oppositions, with autonomy, language, capital and agents on its own. The paper develops, in this context, an analysis of Pierre Bourdieu’s concepts in the field of national education, in a historical process of change within the scope of higher education: from elites towards democratization, from public to private education, from widespread illiteracy to yet concerning records, among other vital considerations. It argues that, in order to accurately determine the real improvements in quality and democratization, it is critical to develop measurable indicators for coverage, quality, access, equity and compared competitiveness.
