IoT Based Smart Irrigation System with LoRa

Both using the water resources adequately and increasing the quantity and the quality of the agricultural products are significantly vital considering the humankind population on the Earth. Smart systems offer promising solutions for afore-mentioned issue. In literature, smart irrigation systems supplied by GSM, or Wi-Fi modules have been released. However, while smart irrigation systems with GSM are facing to power consumption problem, smart irrigation systems with Wi-Fi are having trouble about the limited coverage range. LoRa has low power consumption, so it may operate around ten years with a single battery, in addition to its long range of coverage. Therefore, a smart irrigation system equipped with LoRa has been proposed in this paper in order to increase the quality of the irrigation systems.
