Total Characteristics of the Newly Introduced Flue-cured Tobacco Varieties

2002
The field experiments on 6 flue-cured varieties introduced from America were conducted in 1999-2001. The results showed that: 1) all tested varieties were genetically stabilized in main agronomic characteristics, superior in disease resistance and adaptability; 2) the main agricultural characteristics, such as output value, average price, and resistance to diseases of RG 13 and newly-introduced NC 89 were better than that of NC 89(the control); 3) the yield and K content of ZT 99 were higher, it was a high yield and quality variety; and 4) 3 varieties, RG 8, Va 578 and newly introduced K 326 were not better than the control. The variance analysis indicated that there were significant differences in economic characteristics among some of the tested varieties, and all cured tobacco leaves possessed the satisfied smoking quality and harmonious proportion of chemical constituents.
