Preparation and Characteristics of Curcumin Loaded MicroemulsionBased in Situ Thermosensitive Gelling System

2013
The objective of the study is to prepare and evaluate the curcumin loaded microemulsion-based thermosensitive in situ gelling system. The thermosensitive in situ gelling system was prepared by mixing thermosensitive gelling matrix with the curcuminloaded microemulsion, and the physicochemical properties such as size,Zeta potential, the drug loading and the drug release in vitro were studied. The results showed that based on the formulation, the obtained curcumin was a clear and transparent liquid, and the droplet was spherical under TEM.The mean size and Zeta potential were 21.2 nm and-26.13 mV,respectively. The drug concentration in the system was 19.54 mg/g.The formulation could form hydrogel at 37 ℃ within 1 min.It could be concluded from the results that the curcumin loaded microemulsion-based in situ gelling system could improve significantly the solubility of curcumin and showed good thermosensitive property.
