A Retrospective Study of Tinea Capitis Management in General Pediatric Clinics and Pediatric Emergency Departments at Two U.S. Centers.

We examine management practices of tinea capitis at two US academic centers. The majority of providers treated tinea capitis with the oral antifungal agent griseofulvin and did not obtain a fungal culture. We recommend newer antifungal treatments such as terbinafine and fluconazole and obtaining a fungal culture for effective treatment.
