Effect of Bypass Nutrients on Fatty Acid Composition, Reichert Meissl and Polenske Value of Cow Milk Fat

2020
To assess the effect of bypass nutrients on fatty acid composition, Reichert Meissl and Polenske value of milk fat, eighteen lactating crossbred Holstein Friesian cows were divided into three groups of six cows each and offered control diet or control diet supplemented with bypass fat or bypass protein at the rate of 200 g/day/animal respectively for 90 days. Supplementation of bypass fat resulted in higher (P 0.05). Feeding of bypass fat or protein didn’t influence (p>0.05) Reichert Meissl (RM) or Polenske (P) value of clarified milk fat among different treatment groups. The study conclusively revealed that the dietary inclusion of bypass fat improved milk yield, its composition and fatty acid profile without effecting physico-chemical parameters of milk fat in crossbred cows.
