Universal Control Strategies for Stochastic Non-Linear Reaction Networks

2016
In this Letter, we focus on the control of stochastic reaction networks of the Langevin type. We derive a formula that prescribes a control strategy in order to displace the equilibrium state of any generic reaction, and remarkably find that the control function has a universal form under certain physical conditions. Such result can be thus successfully employed to define universal protocols useful, for example, in the optimal work extraction from a given reservoir, once a measurement process is involved. Generalizations and limits of application of the method are discussed.
