Woven carbon fiber epoxy fracture testing

Abstract In this work, the mixed mode fracture of woven carbon fiber composite is performed to measure the fracture force and to calculate the fracture toughness of the composite. A compact tension shear fixture is modeled and fabricated for the mixed mode fracture test. Compact tension specimen were made from woven carbon fiber epoxy that was fabricated using hand layup. A detailed simple displacement tracking method was applied to measure the displacement of the crack and the crack propagation rate.
