The Development of Parking Management System (PMS) for Efficiency Management and Enforcement of RPPP

The most parking are mainly caused by unequality between demand and supply for parking places. Though it is important that we make the quantity of parking zone in metropolis which becomes rapidly motorized increase, the systematic parking management at limited parking places in urban is more meaningful. The purpose of parking management system in this study is to improve the parking problems resulting from the Residential Parking Permit Program (RPPP) carrying out in Seoul and to develop the methods of systematic parking information for of parking places. Especially, parking information system which can check the current situation of each parking place and consider the visiting car by time-searching is developed with emphasizing on the actual site property through the GIS at self-governing body. It also provides a reform measure on existing problems. Consequently the Parking Management System improve the problems of current and leads higher use efficiency. Futhermore it is expected that the Parking Management System bring the improvement of transportation information through application of ITS such as ATIS (Advanced Transportation Information System) considered into central function of transportation area in the Parking Permit Zone Project executed in Seoul.
