Probe cover for a tympanic thermometer with movie support mechanism.

2006
A probe cover (20) for a probe of a tympanic thermometer, said probe cover comprising: a generally tubular body (22) having a longitudinal axis (X), an opening at a proximal end of the body (22) for receiving a thermometer probe and a window at a distal end of the body generally opposite said proximal end, the body defining an inner circumferential surface (40) extending generally from the proximal end to the distal end; a support (45) of the film, extending radially inward from said distal end of the body toward said longitudinal axis and having an inner edge (53) extending circumferentially around said longitudinal axis and defining a perimeter of said window; a plurality of end ribs (38) at the distal end of the body (22), a transverse portion end ribs (50) projecting radially inward toward said longitudinal axis; and a film (36) covering the window, keeping the end ribs a space (55) between the film and a distal end of the thermometer probe when received in the opening, said space having extensions into areas between said inner circumferential surface the body and a side of the thermometer probe, with the probe cover substantially transparent to infrared radiation through the window, characterized in that: the film (36) is secured to the film support at a distal end of support the film and beyond the inner edge of the support film so that the film extends over the supporting surface of the film, and the perimeter of the window is free from corners in a plane of the window, the parts extending transverse end ribs inwards not beyond the inner edge of the film support.
