Lay further emphasis on the nutrition support therapy for cancer patients

Nutritional risk exists frequently in many cancer patients. The nutrition support plays an important role in the treatment process of these patients, efficiently improving the clinical outcomes. The nutrition support strategies for cancer patients must be based on the individual principles. That is to say, there is an urgent need to firstly have a detailed assessment including the tumor types, TNM staging, differentiation degree and nutritional status, then to determine the specific implementation way of nutrition support therapy. For the cancer patients with good prospects, the nutrition support therapy should pay more emphasis on “standardization”, and pay more attention to improving efficacy and safety. In this paper, the research progress on nutrition support therapy for cancer patients were reviewed, in order to guide the clinical practice of nutrition support, to promote the standardized development of nutrition support therapy, and to help the cancer patients with nutritional risk to benefit from the nutrition support therapy.
