MULTIVARIABLE OPTIMAL CONTROL FOR GENERATOR EXCITATION AND GOVERNOR SYSTEMS

A new digital generator control system has been developed. We planned to improve power system stability on the basis of the modern control theory. This led to a multivariable optimal control incorporated integral feedback for generator excitation and turbine governing. In addition, the control is designed to be adaptive for various changes in the power supply and transmission systems connected to the generator. Performances of the control system are verified by various tests at our pilot plant as well as by various computer simulation studies.
