A study on the synthesis of ketone hydrazine self-crosslinking mini-soap styrene-acrylic core/shellemulsion as a surface sizing agent
2012
The synthesis of ketone hydrazine self-crosslinking mini-soap styrene-acrylic emulsion with core-shell structure by semi-continuous seed emulsion polymerization method was studied in this paper. Functional monomers such as DAAM, ADH and AM, and compound emulsifier system consist of non-ionic efficient emulsifier OP-10 and anionic reactive emulsifier A-2405, were added in the emulsion system. The optimum conditions for emulsion polymerization were obtained: the ratio of hard and soft monomers at 3:7, reaction temperature of 70℃, reaction time of 7h, emulsifier dosage of 6%, functional monomers dosage of 3%, and crosslinking pH of 9. Stability and high conversion styrene-acrylic emulsion was prepared on these conditions. Good water resistance and high gloss were obtained by the emulsion coated on the paper surface.
