Properties of Mischmetal‐Cobalt Magnets

1974
Mischmetal (MM)‐Cobalt magnets were produced by powder metallurgical techniques under both laboratory and production conditions. Depending on the orientation achieved in the magnets, energy products in the range of 10 to 16 MGOe were attained with corresponding Br values of 6800 to 8200 Gauss and Hc values of 6400 to 7600 Oe. Hci was in the range of 10 to 14 kOe while Hk/Br was in the range of 0.9 to 1.8 indicating very high stability magnetization. The reversible temperature coefficient had an average value of 0.063%/°C up to 300°C. The irreversible loss was less than 5% to 150°C for B/H in the range of −0.5 to −1.0 and less than 5% to 200°C for B/H of −1.5.
