Measurement of hardness increase for shot-peened austenitic TX304HB stainless steel tubes with electromagnetic Non-Destructive testing
2020
Abstract This article proposes a system for the measurement of hardness increase in the internal surface of shot-peened austenitic TX304HB stainless steel tubes with electromagnetic Non-Destructive testing. Previously, trained linear interpolator with demodulated Y-component measurements was employed to predict the hardness shift of peened surfaces compared to the bulk condition. Absolute errors were 2.97 -13.21 HV and the relative errors were 1.37% - 6.79% over specimens whose hardness was calibrated with conventional methods. The results suggest that this method is a reliable method for the determination of increase in hardness in shot-peened austenitic TX304HB stainless steel tubes for industrial applications.
