Operating experience in the J.E.N. with a fluidized bed pilot plant

Inherent difficulties in the expansion to industrial scale of fluidized bed production of UF/sub 4/ from the calcination of uranyl nitrate followed by reduction and fluorination are discussed. Experience acquired in operation of a pilot plant has shown that problems appear, some unpredictable, only after many hours of operation. It is practically impossible to carry out a scale increase with certainty. (23 references) (JSR)
