Serum amylase levels after obstetric and gynecologic operations.

Preoperative and postoperative serum amylase determinations were performed in 178 obstetric and gynecologic patients. From our results, we can conclude that, in spite of the fact that the female internal genital organs are rich in amylase, routine surgical procedures and manipulation of these organs, pregnant or not, do not result in hyperamylasemia
