A new 1-D extended vanadoborate containing triply bridged metal complex units

2012
Abstract A new 1-D vanadoborate {[Na(H 2 O) 4 ] 3 [V 12 B 18 O 54 (OH) 6 (H 2 O)] 2 }(H 4 tren) 4 ·(H 3 O)·41H 2 O ( 1 , tren = tris(2-aminoethyl)amine) has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. 1 consists of 1-D polymeric anions {[Na(H 2 O) 4 ] 3 [V 12 B 18 O 54 (OH) 6 (H 2 O)] 2 17 − } n , protonated H 4 tren 4 + , H 3 O + ions and free H 2 O molecules. The [V 12 B 18 O 54 (OH) 6 (H 2 O)] 10 − clusters (denoted on V 12 B 18 ) are connected by three complex [Na(H 2 O) 4 ] + ions as bridges into 1-D chain. 1 is the only example of triply bridged vanadoborate units by three metal complex units. The magnetic susceptibility shows the antiferromagnetic interaction between V IV cations in 1 .
