2021
This paper describes developing an evacuation drill system for improving pupils or students’ awareness as an evacuation drill in school education. Many natural disasters have occurred in Japan, such as the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake. Against this background, disaster prevention education is one of Japan’s education and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) issues. In other words, disaster prevention education is important. The disaster prevention education using virtual reality (VR) technology is effective, but it often their training for leaders such as firefighting training and evacuation guidance. This paper focuses on "evacuation" and develops a VR disaster evacuation training system based on experiential learning to obtain correct knowledge about evacuation for pupils, students. This study experimented with the system with six sixth-grade pupils and confirmed that the proposed system raised their disaster awareness and motivated them to learn.
