The invention relates to a silica sol/acrylate nano core-shell compound emulsion and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) performing titanium chelation treatment on nano silica sol: mixing 0.1-2 parts by weight of tetrabutyl titanate and 0.2-4 parts by weight of carboxyl compound to form a complex, and adding into 100-150 parts by weight of nano silica sol; and (2) preparing the compound emulsion: a, performing seed emulsion polymerization; and b, performing shell monomer polymerization. According to the invention, the titanium chelation treatment is performed on the nano silica sol, and an environment-friendly reactive emulsifier and an acrylate monomer are subjected to in-situ polymerization on the surfaces of nano silicon dioxide particles in the present of an initiator, thus forming a nano core-shell structure taking silicon dioxide as the core and an acrylate copolymer as the shell; and the compound emulsion particles have small particle size and high coating rate. The emulsion production process is simple, low in cost, favorable in stability and high in silicon content; measured by the amount of the silicon dioxide, the silicon content accounts for 30-50wt% of the total solid content; and a coated film is transparent, high in gloss and high in hardness, and has favorable water resistance, heat resistance, acid/alkali resistance and other properties.
