Repository support of synfuels health effects research

The purpose of the work of the Fossil Fuels Research Materials Facility is to actively support health effects research on synthetic fuels by supplying samples, data, and special service. The Facility acts as an interface for mutual exchange of materials and data between synthetic fossil fuels technologists and health effects investigators. Samples are catalogued in a computer inventory system, aliquotted, characterized, and distributed. Comparative matrix studies are described; results of the oil shale matrix study are given as an example. Most of these studies are concerned with the health effects of synthetic fuels combustion. Another area of support is the establishment of comparative research materials and conventional equivalents of synthetic fuels. An additional feature of Facility activities is the correlation of research results from various studies of synthetic fuels. (JGB)
