IJRMMS-2109-771 – Edited and approved by editor experimental study on the dynamic behavior of the brazilian disc sample of rock material

2020
Abstract The design of Brazilian disc sample was used to investigate the tensile properties of rock material in dynamic splitting tests. Two types of samples were used to study the accuracy of the unidirectional strain calculation method for the Brazilian discs, based on the propagation of stress waves at the interface, and the rationality of the results was verified by experiments. The stress-strain curves were determined using the dynamic loading data of the two types of samples, and it was found that the unidirectional strain calculation method was inappropriate for the BD splitting test under dynamic loading conditions. The computational efficiency and precision of using different methods for determining the dynamic Young's modulus-time curves of the samples were evaluated. In addition, the difference in the Young's modulus-time curves for the unidirectional strain and planar strain was also determined. The three stages of the Young's modulus of the Brazilian discs under dynamic loading conditions are obtained, and the failure mechanism of the Brazilian disc is analyzed during the three stages.
