EARTH WEEK AT THE VANCOUVER AQUARIUM PROMPTS VANCOUVERITES TO MARVEL AT OUR OCEANS AND PLEDGE TO CONSERVE THEM FOR GENERATIONS

2010
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Aquarium invites you to celebrate EARTH WEEK in the heart of the city’s green jewel, Stanley Park, from Saturday, April 17 to Sunday April 25. Inspired by the 40th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22) and 2010 being the International Year of Biodiversity, the Aquarium is hosting a week-long Party for the Planet. Visitors will enjoy family fun and the opportunity to reflect on how actions in your everyday life can make a positive impact on our planet and conserve the health of the Earth and its oceans. Earth Week at the Aquarium brings you the 8th annual Good Bye Salmon Fry event where families can join a guided walking tour along the Stanley Park salmon stream to the Aquarium’s salmon hatchery. Inside, you’ll be given a young salmon fry ready for its amazing journey to the ocean. It’ll be your job to carry your young fry to the water’s edge and release it for its important swim. Goodbye Salmon Fry tours occur daily on Weekends at 11:45am, 12:45pm, 1:45pm and 2:45pm and weekdays at Noon and 3pm from April 17-25. Visitors who make a pledge to help conserve our oceans will be entered to win passes to Disney nature’s new Oceans film (opening Earth Day April 22). Aquarium experts will be on hand to challenge and help visitors make a pledge to contribute to a future with healthy oceans. Pledges will be displayed on the Aquarium’s Earth Week Pledge Wall.
