Affective Barriers and Spoken English Learning

By analyzing the current problems with oral English teaching,the correlation between learner's affective variables and proficiency ratings in speaking is pointed out.Particularly,the impact of negative affective factors on oral performances,including over-anxiety,lack of motivation and self-confidence,personality variations,loss of self-esteem,are examined and interpreted.In addition,a set of strategies to help promote learners' positive affect are systematically presented from the perspectives of language teaching as the oral class guidelines.
