Synthesis, crystal structures, and thermal properties of Co(II), Ni(II), Cd(II), and Mn(II) coordination polymers based on 5-hydroxyiso phthalic acid and 1,1′-(1,4-butanediyl) bis (imidazole)

2017
abstractFour coordination polymers, [Co(5-HO-bdc) (bbi)]n (1) and [M(5-HO-bdc)(bbi)]n {M = Ni(II) (2), Cd(II) (3), Mn(II)(4)} [5-OH-bdcH2 = 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid and bbi = 1,1′-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole)], have been synthesized under hydrothermal/solvothermal condition and structurally characterized by X-ray single-crystal and infrared spectra as well as elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. As a result, compound 1 exhibits multilayer weaving 3D geometrical structure, which is formed by multiple interpenetrated 2D (4,4)-connected networks with (44·62). Compounds 2–4 have formed isomorphous crystals and feature a 2D (4,4)-connected layer network in which the layers are connected to form a 3D supramolecular structure by hydrogen bonds. Both frameworks of 1 and 2 are stable below 400°C.
