Risk factors of the surgical site infection with type I incision and its infection management

2013
Objective To investigate critical factors of all surgical site infection cases with type I incision, provide resolution for each case in order to reduce incident rate of infection in hospital. Method 184 cases of surgical site infection were encountered over 40 788 patients with the type I incision in our hospital over the period from June 2005 to June 2011. After sample classifications according to patient's sexual/age/diabetes status ,operation time and operation invasiveness,χ2 test was used to indicate statistical significant of each classification. Results The incidence rate of the surgical site infection with type I incision was about 0.451% (184/40 788). Aged male patient with diabetes and suffered long operation time has significant high risk in encountering the surgical site infection (P0.05). Conclusion Refining the process of surgery preparation , shortening operation time , and refining the process of nutritional support after operation are main derived solutions in order to reduce the incidence rate of infection with type I incision.
