The influence of pi-electrons on charge-transfer interactions between cyclic and aromatic hydrocarbons and silica packings chemically modified with transition metals complexes

2004
The preparation, characterisation and potential applications of silica stationary phases with chemically bonded transition metals complexes have been presented. New packings have been synthesised by attaching copper(II) and chromium(III) chlorides to the silica surface through ketoimine groups. These packings facilitate the studies on the electron-donor nature of the interactions occurring between the stationary phases and the nucleophilic molecules. The influence of the surface modification on the retention parameters of aromatic hydrocarbons has been examined. The obtained results confirmed high selectivity of the packings towards the compounds containing π-electrons within their molecules.
