The reflex switch: A new vacuum opening switch for use with magnetic energy storge

A new type of high‐power, high‐voltage vacuum opening switch is described. This switch has been used in a magnetic energy storage system with a peak current of 340 kA to produce a 2.7‐MV pulse with a risetime of ∼15 ns.
