The invention provides an optical touch system, an optical sensing module and a method for operating the optical touch system. The optical touch system identifies the track of an object which is positioned on a touch surface so as to execute a corresponding gesture function, and comprises the touch surface, at least one image sensor and a processing unit. The touch surface is divided into at least two touch areas. Each image sensor captures a plurality of continuous images of the object. The processing unit determines which touch areas is the object positioned according to an initial position of the object image in a plurality of initial images, and determines the object image tracks in the images so as to execute the corresponding gesture function.
