Ponašanje krutog bloka na uniformnom pijesku uslijed horizontalnog ubrzanja podloge

2020
This undergrad thesis presents an analysis of the influence of soil and ground acceleration on the behaviour of the rigid block. Thus, the mechanism of behaviour of the rigid foundation, which will be simulated using an aluminum block, during the dynamic load on the soil on which the foundation or block is placed, will be monitored. Displacements of the block at a point in the middle of the base of the block will be measured in laboratory experiments in two mutually perpendicular directions (horizontal and vertical). The behaviour of the block was also analysed using the computer program Rocscience RS2 and with laboratory experiments in the Laboratory for Structures Engineering of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka. The behaviour of a rigid block on uniformly graduated sand, relative density Dr = 50%, was analysed. The tests were performed on a block that has a significant height versus width. The block will be subjected to different dynamic loads that differ according to the frequency f and the amplitude A, while the five most critical ones will be taken into account in more detailed manner. The behaviour of the block in the experiments will be performed in dry conditions. As the stability of the block is mostly influenced by the bearing capacity of the soil, the mechanism of soil failure and bearing capacity factors that have the greatest contribution to the bearing capacity of the soil in static and dynamic conditions will be theoretically discussed.
