Reduction of the Number of Phase Shifters in Linear Phased Antenna Arrays by using Evolutionary Multi-Objective Optimization

2019
An evolutionary multi-objective optimization approach for the design of linear phased antenna arrays based on non-uniform subarrays and reduction of phase shifters is presented. The global optimum solution resulted from an exhaustive search and the candidate solution from an approximated Pareto front (APF) obtained by an evolutionary multi-objective algorithm SMPSO are compared. A sequence from the APF reported a SLL value of −15.93 dB outperforming the optimum solution from exhaustive search by 2.57 dB. This result is possible by sampling a search space 484 times bigger than the one explored by the exhaustive approach.
