Expression of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) in gastric carcinomas and its clinical significance

2009
Objective: To study the correlation between NF-κB expression in gastric carcinoma and noncancerous tissue and clinicalpathological data including tumor differentiation, infiltrating, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. Methods: Expression of NF-κB was examined in 78 gastric carcinomas by Envision two-step immunohistochemical methods. Results: The staining of NF-κB was stronger in gastric carcinomas than in the epithelia cell of noncancerous tissues and was higher in low differentiation cancer cells than well differentiated ones. The cancers with lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis had more enhanced NF-κB expression than the cancers without lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis, and the deeper extent of infiltrating, the higher NF-κB expression. Conclusion: It was strongly expressed the expression of NF-κBp65 in gastric carcinoma.NF-κBp65 played an important action in the occurrence and metastasis of gastric carcinoma. It could become a new target of treatment of gastric carcinoma.
