This study aims to advance the state of knowledge regarding the market potential for high-speed rail (HSR) in California and to provide a framework on which future studies can build. The purpose of this technical appendix is to document the need for additional data collection as well as to clearly explain the approach taken, the data used, and the methodology applied, so that further work may proceed from this effort.
