Research on a High Power Density DC/DC Converter Based on Weinberg Topology

2018
This paper proposes a high-power density and efficiency de-de converter applied on satellite power supply. Without output inductor the topology proposed here is suitable for step-up and high-power converter. In addition, continuous energy transfer achieves ripple cancelling and makes the converter suitable for motor drive controlling units. Two alternative Weinberg topologies with current-fed feature are mainly compared and considered based on specific theoretic analysis and simulation. Since, surge voltage cause by transformers in the proposed converter cannot be negligible. A novel active clamp snubber (ACS) has been proposed to suppress high voltage spike. The only one additional snubber switch has the same operation with another two switches make the converter easy to control. Meanwhile the proposed non-dissipative snubber circuits achieve high efficiency and power density. To verify the effectiveness of snubber, the experimental results is presented from a 120W, 28-42Vdc prototype in the end.
