Use of Dublin Core and XML for the Organization of Agricultural Information in the Web

This article presents how Dublin Core and XML technologies were used for
organizing information in the project AgencyBeef Cattle, whose purpose is
collecting, organizing and publishing in the internet information about the beef
cattle supply chain. The result of this project will be a website whose contents are
electronic resources (publications web) related to the beef cattle supply chain.The
formats and types considered will be as varied as texts, images, sound, software,
data, interactive, events, etc. This project aims at developing an infrastructure for
creation of electronic resources metadata, having as functionality: insertion;
alteration; exclusion; and search to classified resources. It also approaches the need
of developing appropriate tools for organization of information. XML language
(eXtensible Markup Language) is used for structuring information contents, and
the Dublin Core standard for description of electronic resources. As obtained result
is presented the tool for metadata creation, which uses XML for structuring and
storing electronic.
