Application and Theory of Electron Beam Acoustic Microscope (EAM)

1984
An electron-beam acoustic microscope (EAM) was developed for application to diagnostics of semiconductor devices and large-scale integrated circuits. A simple theory for the acoustic signal intensity was presented and its validity was verified by comparing the result with experimental ones. Some examples of EAM images were also shown.
