Thermal Test of Cast Iron Cooling Stave Under Limit Working Condition

2014
The thermal resistance of cast iron cooling stave produced by lost foam process was analyzed with heat transfer theory, and an experimental furnace was designed and constructed to test the using effect of the cooling stave under limit working condition. Cooling effect of the cooling stave under the condition of different temperature in furnace of 800 ℃, 900 ℃, 1 000 ℃ and 1 100 ℃ as well as different cooling water velocities of 0.5 m/s, 1.0 m/s, 1.5 m/s and 2.0 m/s were tested. Heat transfer performance of different coating processes and corner area were analyzed. The result indicates that the cast iron cooling stave produced by lost foam process has good cooling ability and it could be used safely in the bosh and belly area of a blast furnace; The edge and corner area of the stave body is the weak link of whole cooling system, additional attention should be paid to this area during producing; Heat transfer performance of cooling staves with spray coating cooling pipes is better than that with brush coating cooling pipes.
