Characterization and thermal analysis of new amorphous Co60Fe18Ta8B14 alloy produced by mechanical alloying

2021
Abstract An amorphous Co60Fe18Ta8B14 powdered alloy was prepared by mechanical alloying process. The XRD results confirmed that the amorphous phase becomes a dominant phase above 50 h milling. Observation by scanning electron microscope shows a succession of phenomena of severe plastic deformation, cold welding and fracturing of powder particles. This new amorphous alloy exhibits a wide supercooled liquid region of 83 K and its crystallization occurs by three successive exothermic reactions.
