Development of Reserved Reliable Flow Control Algorithm in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

2018
As is known, wireless networks have limited capacity compared to wired networks. In mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), because of mobility, capacity management becomes more difficult. MANETs are networks that are formed by wireless connections of mobile devices that are configured automatically. MANETs do not have a specific backbone or infrastructure. MANETs do not have a centralized structure. Because of that, traffic flow control is more complex compared to the networks that have centralized structures. There are many studies about flow control due to such problems. In this study, the Reservation Based-Reliable Flow Control (RB-RFC) algorithm for mobile ad hoc networks is proposed. The RB-RFC algorithm is based on users’ requests for bandwidth reservation to hop nodes. Hop nodes distribute the bandwidth equally among the requesting users. RB-RFC algorithm is simulated using ns-2 and the obtained results are compared. According to the experimental results, the algorithm was found to be successful.
