Análisis de la efectividad de la radiofrecuencia monopolar sobre la calidad de vida en pacientes con endometriosis: ensayo clínico controlado

2019
Introduction: Endometriosis is characterized by the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity leading to different symptoms such as pelvic pain and dysmenorrhea. Objective: To verify the effectiveness of the application of intracavitary monopolar radiofrequency in patients diagnosed with endometriosis. Material and methods: The sample of patients is composed of subjects diagnosed with endometriosis recruited from the Association of Women Affected by Endometriosis of Zaragoza (ADAEZ), social networks and paper prints. In the controlled clinical trial, the participants were randomly distributed in 2 equal groups; the placebo group and the experimental group. In both groups, patients should arrive between 18 and 24 sessions. Quality of life is evaluated using the EHP-30 questionnaire, mean pain using the visual analogue scale (EVA), frequency of pain using a Likert scale and pain areas using a body map. Results: The results of the EHP-30 questionnaire are inconclusive, as are the EVA and pain frequency. In pain areas, there is a decrease in pain areas, but also no statistical significance. Conclusion: The role of the physiotherapist is important in the therapeutic approach of patients with endometriosis. But to find out the effectiveness of mopolar radiofrequency in improving the quality of life of women will have to be investigated with a larger and more accurate sample.
