Inherited Causes of Jaundice

1968
Presented herein are four cases—a 36 year old man with congenital spherocytosis, a 26 year old physician with Gilbert's disease, a six month old girl with Crigler-Najjar syndrome, a 12 year old boy with Dubin-Johnson syndrome—which illustrate the problems of jaundice from congenital causes. Because many such diseases have an excellent prognosis and many respond to specific treatment, physicians should be aware of them.
