Use of "Irontex" Fabric Mender

1968
The fabric mender is a paper thin, fine-weave cotton and contains a resin-coated side which may be ironed on the underside of the canvas tacking edge. The strip is placed 1/4" inside the bend of the tacking edge onto the picture proper. As the material is very thin, no ridge appears on the front side after stretching. The adhesive used in the tape is soluble in xylene and the tape can subsequently be removed with either heat or xylene if necessary.
