Structure-affinity comparison of steroid binding to estrogen receptors in rat liver and uterus. (Abstract only)

1977
In a comparative binding study the binding effect of ethinyl estradiol was identical in liver and uterine preparations. Procedures for the experiment are described. The effect oftemperature on steroid-receptor binding action is being studied. It is felt that pressor and thromboembolic side effects of oral contraceptives may be related to estrogen binding to liver receptors. It is hoped that experiments will lead to the development of new estrogenic antifertility agents with reduced side effects.
